Radio Free Rotman returns tonight with the first show of the New Year. It was going to be the usual mix with a mention to the passing away of Ian Tyson last month. Then the shock came about the sudden demise of Jeff Beck this past week, a man whose music and distinctive guitar playing has been part of my musical life since the early teens with “Heart Full of Soul”. Thus I assembled a selective sampling of his works from his extensive discography over the decades from the Yardbirds in 1966 to his last release with Johnny Depp just four months ago. Lucinda Williams, Johnny Copeland, John Hammond, John Lee Hooker and Inara George with Van Dyke Parks compliment tonight’s program for your listening pleasure.
