Dragan Petrovic, Belgrade-born/Toronto-based musician, composer, producer and educator was my guest in the CFMU studio tonight. In Yugoslavia, Dragan was a well known musician - member of New Wave/Pop/Rock groups Pasta ZZ, Slomljena Stakla and Vatrene Kočije. He came to Canada in 1992, as his homeland descended into chaos and war. Unlike many Yugoslav pop and rock stars who left music industry after arriving to Canada, Dragan established himself as a producer, jazz composer and pianist. He is also the owner of “Sound Academy” recording studio and teaches master classes in jazz piano, arranging and production.

Check out the podcast to hear an interesting conversation that intersects continents, countries, political systems and musical styles.
